their mystery wheel during class.
They will be allowed to read and prepare an additional wheel
using a book of their choosing.  It needs to be submitted by Dec. 11, 2009.

Burns’ Book Challenge
October-December

By now your children should have brought information home about the book challenge that we will be doing from now until the Christmas holidays.

 The goal is that the children will read as many books as possible between now and then.  The books can be on a second grade level or above. I’ve told the  children that if they are not sure about a book to bring it in and we will check to see if it is appropriate.  I also have books in the classroom that the children can use.  Here is the information for the presentation.

The children earn five points per book presentation.

The presentation can be in the form of a book report, display box(shoebox), poster, or other. Everyone earning at least 30 pointswill receive a reward.  Anyone earning over 45 points will receive a grand prize.  In addition, the minutes will be recorded to be turned in for the Jacket to Jacket school wide reward.

MATH

Attention Parents:

     Third grade is expected to master multiplication facts.  To help my students accomplish this task, we will be taking quizzes and working on multiplication facts through the next several math units.  For every test that the class passes we will earn part of a celebration sundae.  Below is what each child will earn for passing the assessment for the following math facts
  0 & 1’s = place mat

      2s = napkin

   3s = spoon

 4s = bowl

         5s = 1 scoop of ice crea

6s = 2 scoops of ice cream

    7s = chocolate syrup

       8s= caramel syrup

         9s = nuts (if not allergic)

      10s = whipped cream

    11s = sprinkles

   12s = cherry

Please help us study our facts so that we can complete our mission and earn our celebration.

Thanks,

Betty Burns
